6. Seven Segments 

The above LCD (0 8 4 7) has four numbers, each with seven segments. To put it another way, the number 0 has seven segments, and the number 8 has seven segments, and so on. Each number is divided into seven segments. Each section can be turned on and off separately to form different numbers and characters, such as E, F, and C. This is an illustration of seven sections. However, some letters, such as’ M’ and ‘V,’ cannot be displayed by a seven-segment. A fourteen-segment arrangement can be employed in this instance.

8. Fourteen-Segment Display

For numerals and some letters, a seven-segment display is sufficient, but reproducing the ISO basic Latin alphabet clearly requires greater detail. The sixteen-segment display is a minor variant that provides for more legibility when showing letters or other symbols.

9. Sixteen-Segment Display

A sixteen-segment display (SISD) is a display with 16 segments that may be switched on and off to create a graphic pattern. It’s a variation on the popular seven-segment display, with four diagonal and two vertical segments added and the three horizontal segments split in half. The fourteen-segment display, which does not separate the top or bottom horizontal segments, and the twenty-two-segment display, which supports lower-case characters with descenders, are two further versions.

A character generator is frequently employed to convert 7-bit ASCII character codes to the 16 bits that indicate which of the 16 segments to turn on or off.

10. How to Build A Custom Segment LCD?

Because most segment displays and custom LCD screen sizes are made of glass with small metal leads linked to both sides, they are known as “glass only displays.” However, a PCB (Printed Circuit Board) or a controller driver chip (IC) can be added (IC). The sandwich-like structure of the display is reminiscent of that of a sandwich. You take two pieces of glass, glue one on top of the other, and then inject a liquid between the two.
